Obituary for Paul Rizzo

Paul G. Rizzo, 72, a lifelong resident of Carlstadt, passed away at home on December 8, 2017. For the last 10 years he was a History Adjunct Professor at Bergen Community College in Paramus. Prior, he was a Pharmaceutical Representative in New York City for over 30 years at Bristol Myers Squibb Co., retiring in 2007. Paul was a graduate of Don Bosco Preparatory High School, St. Peter’s University and received a Master’s Degree in American History from Rutgers University. He was inducted into the Don Bosco Prep Hall of Fame in 2003. Mr. Rizzo was a former councilman. He served on the Board of Education for Becton Regional High School and the Carlstadt Board of Education. He coached the Jr. Wildcats, Babe Ruth and Hercules Men’s Softball. His greatest accomplishment was his children and grandchildren and devotion to his wife. Beloved husband for 48 years of Kathleen M. (nee Pell) Rizzo. Loving father of Paul J. Rizzo and wife Kristin, Marcella I. Hernandez and husband Elo, Marc J. Rizzo and Luke J. Rizzo and wife Andrea. Cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren. Dear brother of Antoinette Rihlik and husband Charles and the late Eufrasia Venturini and Michael Rizzo. Funeral departing from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 9:00 AM for a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, East Rutherford at 9:30 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Preparatory School, 650 Pee Dee Rd., Southern Pines, N.C. 28387. Paul believed strongly in his grandchildren’s opportunity to receive a Catholic/Christian education.
